Biosketch

Irja Lutsar MD, PhD is a professor in medical microbiology at the University of Tartu, Estonia and is an Estonian member of the EMA Paediatric Committee.

She gained her medical degree in 1978 at the University of Tartu and defended her thesis in 1995 at the same university.

She did her research fellowship at the Southwestern Medical School at Dallas, Texas, USA. In past she has worked as a paediatrician in the district hospital, as head of the paediatric infectious diseases department at the University Hospital of Tartu and for 6 years as a director at Pfizer Inc. in the UK.

She has wide experience in designing, analysing, conducting and leading paediatric trials nationally and internationally.
