ESCMID Postgraduate Education Course - Infection in older populations: the next challenges
To provide new insights and scientific exchanges on sepsis in older populations, including:
• Current views on the pathogenesis of sepsis and specificities in older populations. • Specific outcomes, clinical presentations in older populations and clinical relevance of these specificities. • Special aspects in the diagnosis, prognosis and management of sepsis and severe infection in older populations. • Specificities of the impact of old viruses (Influenza) but also of newer viruses (respiratory and emerging arboviruses). • The next challenges regarding prevention of infection. • New and old vaccines. • The research agenda for the coming decade.
