WHO Updated Handbook on Programmatic Management of Drug-resistant TB

WHO informs that the Global Tuberculosis Programme (GTB) has released an update of its implementation handbook on the programmatic management of drug-resistant TB (PMDT) with revised annexes on the use of the new second-line drugs (delamanid and bedaquiline), and a revised chapter on pharmacovigilance, including updated parameters on data collection to support programmes to implement cohort event monitoring (CEM) under field conditions.

This is a fundamental technical guidance, that WHO is offering to member states and partners hoping that all those who provide care to people affected by MDR-TB and that those same people suffering from MDR-TB request their providers to follow the recommendations described in the Handbook, so that the best possible standard of care is delivered to all
